All four houses have fast Wi-Fi. Mobile phone reception on the O2, Vodafone, and Telekom networks is also good.

Set up your desk wherever you enjoy working most: on the lawn, on the terrace or in the quiet upstairs room. And on your next video call, why not show off a real background?

The forest beckons after work: a hike on the Rennsteig trail, followed by a sauna and a crackling fire. Unwinding has never been easier. And if you don’t fancy cooking, plenty of takeaways deliver.

Frequently asked questions about workations

How many workspaces are there in each house?


On request, we can provide a desk in every house. The dining table and the terrace are also great spots for working on your laptop.

Are there enough sockets at the desk?


There’s at least one socket at every table. If you’re bringing several devices, we recommend packing an extension lead.

What’s the mobile signal like? Which networks work?


Vodafone and Telekom have good coverage. For video calls, we recommend using the Wi-Fi.

How fast is the Wi-Fi?


Chalet Hüttenzauber, Birkenchalet and Chalet Feuerzauber: 117 Mbit/s download, 22 Mbit/s upload.
Kleiner Feuerzauber: 80 Mbit/s download, 10 Mbit/s upload.
The Wi-Fi reaches every floor and out onto the terrace.

Is the Wi-Fi good enough for several video calls at once?


Yes, the upload speeds are usually sufficient for two simultaneous video calls.

Is there a printer?


We don’t have a printer, but there are several shops in and around Zella-Mehlis where you can print:

How will the children be kept busy while we work?


For a workation with children, our forest playground awaits right behind the holiday homes, with a slackline, trampoline, slide and the “Mini-Chalet” playhouse with its toy kitchen. There’s seating for grown-ups, too.

On rainy days, or for whichever parent isn’t working, we recommend a trip to the indoor play centres Fritzpark in Zella-Mehlis or YOKI AHORN Kinderwelt in Oberhof (booking by phone required).

Which house is best for working from home?


For guests with children, we recommend our largest house, Chalet Hüttenzauber. Upstairs, there’s a play nook and a games corner with a wide selection of games. Birkenchalet, Chalet Feuerzauber and Kleiner Feuerzauber are ideal for smaller families and for anyone who simply needs a break from their own four walls. On request, we can provide a desk in every house, and all houses have fast Wi-Fi.
