Dog-Friendly Holidays in the Thuringian Forest

Three of our four vacation homes at Ferienhaus Feuerzauber are dog-friendly accommodations. You can book a dog-friendly holiday at Chalet Hüttenzauber, Chalet Feuerzauber, and Birkenchalet. We provide a dog basket, dog bowl, and a towel. All three holiday homes come with a fully fenced garden. The nearest dog park at Schubertpark is within walking distance.

Our canine guests receive their own dog basket with a blanket, towel, and a dog bowl with treats.

Hiking with your dog: Hiking on the Rennsteig and other trails is no problem with your dog on a leash. Please note: a year-round leash requirement applies throughout the entire Thuringian Forest, to protect hares, deer, wild boar, and many ground-nesting birds. The leash requirement is especially strictly enforced during breeding and birthing season, from March to July. It applies to forests, forest meadows, forestry roads, and forest edges.

Swimming with your dog: At the Lütsche Reservoir, there are designated dog-friendly swimming spots near Frankenhain. The leash requirement also applies on the way to and from the water.

Important notes: Dogs are not allowed on public children's playgrounds, sunbathing lawns, sports fields, or swimming areas.

Bring poop bags (required), and don't forget tick protection! Dog liability insurance is legally required in Thuringia.
